SCI places Handymax Bulk Carrier orders with STX Shipyard

Shipping Corporation of India announced that the company placed orders for six Handymax bulk carriers of about 57,000 dwt. each with STX Shipyard, Korea.

The shipbuilding contracts have been inked on Dec. 4, 2007 and the vessels are expected to be delivered to the company between and 2011 and early 2012.

The company had earlier announced on Dec. 03, 2007 that it had received the approval from the government for acquiring six Handymax bulk carriers of about 57,000 dwt. each.

Shares of the company declined Rs 0.95, or 0.36%, to trade at Rs 262.25. The total volume of shares traded was 101,724 at the BSE. (3.47 pm, Tuesday)
