Market trades weak

The 30-share benchmark, BSE Sensex slipped further on account of sustained selling pressure in the pivotal stocks. Currently the index is trading on a weak note.

All sectors are trading in the negative.

BSE Sensex was last trading at 19,808.99, down 221.84 points, while NSE Nifty, was trading at 5,948.25 down 99.45 points (11.12 a.m.).

The BSE Midcap dipped 0.16%, while BSE Smallcap rose 0.89%.


Out of the total 2 804 stocks traded at the BSE, 1,855 advanced, 926 declined, while 23 remained unchanged.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto declined 0.67%, BSE Power declined 1.92%, BSE IT shed 0.45%, BSE Metal dipped 2.03%, BSE Bankex declined 1.57% and BSE Realty declined 1.86%.

Gainers include Cipla which rose 2.01% to Rs 213.35, ACC rose 1.76% to Rs 1,122.00 and Satyam rose 1.17% at Rs 415.90. ITC, L&T, M&M, HUL, Bajaj Auto and Ambuja Cement also moved up.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex include TCS which declined 3.52% to Rs 1,007.65, Bharti Airtel declined 3.42% to Rs 920.00 and Tata Motors declined 3.29% to Rs 719.95. ONGC, HDFC Bank, SBI, NTPC, Hindalco and BHEL also slipped.
