REL seeks members nod to raise share capital

Reliance Energy announced to seek members by way of postal ballot, to increase the existing authorized share capital of the company of Rs 18.50 billion to Rs 19.50 billion.

The company also seeks members nod for raising up to Rs 50 billion by issuing securities like ADR, GDR, FCCB etc in international market.

The results of the postal ballot will be announced on or after Jan. 07, 2008.

Earlier this month, Reliance Energy has secured engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to set up the 2 x 600 MW coal based power station at Raghunathpur in West Bengal. The contract is valued at over Rs 37,250 million.

Shares of the company declined Rs 2.05 , or 0.11% to settle at Rs 1909.45. The total volume of shares traded was 341,162 at the BSE.(Friday ).
