Market trades flat

The 30-share benchmark BSE Sensex is currently trading on a flat note. FMCG, power, banking and IT lost ground while auto, metal and realty rose.

BSE Sensex is trading at 20,288.94, down 1.95 points, while NSE Nifty, is trading at 6,117.55, up 20.3 points (2.17 p.m.).

The BSE BSE Midcap rose 1.32% and BSE Smallcap rose 1.77%.

Out of the total 2,897 stocks traded at the BSE, 2,054 advanced, 806 declined, while 37 remained unchanged.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto rose 0.03%, BSE Metal rose 2.14%, BSE Realty rose 2.32%, while BSE Bankex shed 0.53%, BSE Power dipped 0.15%, BSE IT declined 2.46%.

Leaders at the BSE Sensex were HDFC which rose 4.35% to Rs 3075.00, Reliance Comm rose 3.01% to Rs 762.05 and Tata Steel rose 2.83% to Rs 859.50. NTPC, ONGC, Cipla, DLF, Hindalco and Grasim also moved up.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex include Infosys which declined 4.21% to Rs 1669.70, Satyam declined 2.59% to Rs 430.25 and Wipro declined 2.41% to Rs 493.00. ICICI Bank, BHEL, HDFC Bank, Reliance Energy and Maruti also slipped.
