Market trades firm

The 30-share benchmark, BSE Sensex lost its momentum in the earlier session. Currently the index is trading on a firm note.

All sectors are trading in the positive terrain.

BSE Sensex was last trading at 19,144.38, up 64.74 points while NSE Nifty was trading at 5,761.15, up 18.85 points (12.10 a.m.).

The BSE Midcap rose 1.52% and BSE Smallcap rose 2.25%.

Out of the total 2,854 stocks traded at the BSE, 2,348 advanced, 474 declined, while 32 remained unchanged.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto rose 0.65%, BSE Power rose 0.53%, BSE IT rose 0.56%, BSE Realty moved up 0.82%, BSE Bankex rose 0.72%.

Gainers at the BSE Sensex include M&M, which advanced 5.09% to Rs 809.90, Reliance Energy rose 3.65% to Rs 1874.00 and ONGC rose 3.04% to Rs 1,185.00. Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, ITC, Tata Motors, Ranbaxy and DLF also moved up.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex were HDFC, which declined 2.93% to Rs 2,730.00, Grasim declined 1.56% to Rs 3,579.60 and Maruti shed 1.24% to Rs 1,007.00. Bajaj Auto, Wipro, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, HUL, ACC and SBI also slipped.
