Market trades negative

The 30-share benchmark, BSE Sensex continued to trade in the negative terrain on account of sustained selling pressure seen in the pivotal stocks in the previous trading hour.

All sectors are trading in the negative.

BSE Sensex was last trading down 171.53 points at 19,089.82 while NSE Nifty, was trading at 5,725.50, down 51.5 points (11.23 a.m.).


The BSE Midcap declined 1.27% and BSE Smallcap dipped 1.63%.

Out of the total 2,758 stocks traded at the BSE, 729 advanced, 1,995 declined, while 34 remained unchanged.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto declined 0.58%, BSE Power declined 1.32%. BSE IT dipped 0.88%, BSE Realty declined 1.35%, BSE Bankex declined 1.13%.

Gainers at the BSE Sensex include DLF which rose 1.56% to Rs 959.00, NTPC rose 1.42% to Rs 231.85 and Cipla rose 1.32% to Rs 210.65. HUL, ITC, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, Tata Motors and Maruti also moved up.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex include Hindalco which declined 2.32% to Rs 196.00, HDFC declined 2.28% to Rs 2,812.05 and HDFC Bank declined 1.98% to Rs 1,645.00.
