Hero Honda posts 2.8% rise in November sales

India`s biggest two-wheeler maker, Hero Honda Motors reported 2.8% rise in two-wheeler sales in November to 288,027 units compared with the prior year period.

``This is a repeat of last year`s record festive season performance, when the company had clocked similar retail numbers. It is especially significant when the two-wheeler industry has been experiencing a slowdown,`` the company said in a statement.

The company`s sales during the festive season this year stood at 0.5 million units, the company said.

The company said new 150 cc motorcycle Hunk has received a very encouraging initial response from customers helping the company more than double its volume and share in the premium bike segment this year.

The consistent performance of HHML has been possible due to the company`s multi-focal strategy of bringing in new products across segments, supporting them with strong communication and augmenting its distribution network, the company added.

Shares of the company declined Rs 17.4, or 2.41%, to settle at Rs 705.3. The total volume of shares traded was 49,263 at the BSE. (Monday)
