Asian markets advance , Indian markets to take the cue

Most Asian indices opened positive on Thursday led by mining and energy companies as commodity prices moved up.Indian markets are also expected to rise.

Japanese carmakers declined after analyst downgraded them because of US slowdown.

Japanese benchmark index Nikkei rose 11.35 points, or 0.09%, to trade at 13,200.71.

Hong Kong`s index Hang Seng rose 192.46 points, or 0.81%, to trade at 24,064.89.

China`s Shanghai Composite declined 42.86 points, or 1.28%, to trade at 3,305.02.

Taiwan`s Taiex index dipped 12.25 points, or 0.14%, to trade at 8,593.07.

South Korea`s KOSPI gained 17.33 points, or 0.99%, to trade at 1,759.52.

Singapore`s Straits Times gained 19.12 points, or 0.61%, to trade at 3,143.73. (8.20 a.m., IST)
