Infosys Q4 net profit up 21% at Rs 4,659 crore

Infosys Technologies’ Q4 net profit rose 20.8 per cent to Rs 4,659 crore compared with Rs 3,856 crore in the same quarter previous year.

Net sales stood at Rs. 16,692 crore for the year ending Mar 31, 2008 against Rs. 13,893 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The company has recommended a final dividend of Rs.7.25 per share (145% on an equity share par value Rs.5) and a special dividend of Rs.20/- per share (400% on an equity share par value Rs.5).
Analysis
On consolidated basis

For Financial year 2008 Infosys registered 20.82% rise in net profit for the year ended March 2008. During the year, net profit stood at Rs 46,590 million as against Rs 38,560 million in the year ended March 2007.

Total income rose 21.94% to Rs 173,960 million for financial year 2008 from Rs 142,650 million for the year ended March 2007.

On quarterly basis, the group, registered 9.18% rise in net profit for the quarter ended March 2008. During the quarter, net profit stood at Rs 12,490 million as against Rs 11,440 million in the quarter ended March 2008.

Total income rose 20.30% to Rs 46,810 million for the quarter ended March 2008 from Rs 38,910 million for the same period, last year.

On Standalone basis
Infosys disclosed a phenomenal jump in net profit for the year ended March 2008. During the year, the company experienced a 18.16% rise in profits to Rs 44,700 million from Rs 37,830 million for the year ended March 2007.

Total income rose 20.75% to Rs 163,310 million for the for the year ended March 2008 from Rs 135,240 million for the same period last year.

On quarterly basis, the IT giant, registered 5.16% rise of in net profit for the quarter ended March 2008. During the quarter, net profit stood at Rs 11,820 million as against Rs 11,240 million in the quarter ended March 2008.

Total income rose 18.86% to Rs 43,680 million for the quarter ended March 2008 from Rs 36,750 million for the same period, last year.

Shares of the company declined Rs 17.53, or 1.23%, to trade at Rs 1,440. The total volume of shares traded was 6,727 at the BSE (9.56 am, Tuesday).
