ACC production up 5.58% in March 2008

India`s leading cement maker ACC`s cement production rose 5.58% to 1.89 million tons for the month of March 2008 as compared with 1.79 million tons in the month February 2007.

The dispatches increased 4.92% at 1.92 million tons for the month of February 2008 as against 1.83 million tons in the month of February 2007.

ACC manufactures various kinds of portland cement for general construction and special applications. It also offers two value-added products, namely bulk cement and ready mix concrete. ACC`s operations are spread throughout the country with 14 modern cement factories, 19 ready mix concrete plants, 19 sales units, 54 area offices, and 194 warehouses.

Shares of the company declined Rs 2.95, or 0.35%, to trade at Rs 831. The total volume of shares traded was 35,262 at the BSE. (11.51 a.m., Friday)
