Asian shares gained on Thursday, paced by commodities stocks on rise in metal, oil, and rice & wheat prices. BHP Billiton, the world`s largest mining company and Posco, Asia`s third-largest steelmaker led gains among commodities producers.
Japanese benchmark index Nikkei climbed 200.54 points, or 1.52%, to end at 13,389.90. Hong Kong`s index Hang Seng went up 392.20 points, or 1.64%, to close at 24,264.63. China`s Shanghai Composite rose 98.36 points, or 2.94%, to settle at 3,446.24.
Taiwan`s Taiex index declined 8.98 points, or 0.10%, to close at 8,596.34. South Korea`s KOSPI climbed 21.44 points, or 1.23%, to settle at 1,763.63. Singapore`s Straits Times gained 46.94 points, or 1.50%, to end at 3,171.55.
