Sensex crashes 730.83 pts

The 30-share benchmark, BSE Sensex is continuously trading weak as heavy selling pressure is being witnessed in pivotal stocks. It touched an intraday low of 18,562.87.

All sectors were trading in the negative.

BSE Sensex is trading at 18,549.97, down 730.83 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 5,537.75, down 243.15 points (3.00 p.m).

The BSE Midcap declined 4.64% and BSE Smallcap declined 3.89%.


Out of the total 2,831 stocks traded at the BSE, 683 advanced, 2,112 declined, while 36 remained unchanged.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto declined 2.95%, BSE Bankex declined 5.28%, BSE IT declined 1.24%, BSE Power declined 5.70%, BSE Realty dipped 4.33% and BSE Metal declined 5.74%.

ACC which rose 1.63% to Rs 1102.30 followed by TCS which rose 0.85% to Rs 968.75 and Bajaj Auto rose 0.38% to Rs 2438.95 were the only three gainers at the BSE Sensex.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex include ICICI Bank, which declined 7.43% to Rs 1080.50, NTPC dipped 6.32% to Rs 243.95 and BHEL shed 5.06% to Rs 2,520.00. L&T, ITC, Maruti, Reliance Energy, Hindalco, Tata Steel and SBI also slipped.
