Market trades higher

The 30-share benchmark, BSE Sensex continues to trade higher backed by strong buying interest seen among the investors in heavyweights.

All sectors were trading in the positive terrain.

BSE Sensex is trading at 18,861.66, up 335.34 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 5,610.40, up 91.05 points (3.20 p.m).

The BSE Midcap added 1.64% and BSE Smallcap added 1.08%.



Out of the total 2,823 stocks traded at the BSE, 1,712 advanced, 1,051 declined, while 60 remained unchanged.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto rose 1.49%, BSE IT rose 1.21%, BSE Power rose 2.97%, BSE Realty moved up 3.36%, BSE Metal rose 3.39% and BSE Bankex rose 0.03%.

Leaders at the BSE Sensex were Reliance Energy. which soared 8.10% to Rs 1,735.15, DLF rose 4.83% to Rs 862.50 and L&T rose 4.39% to Rs 4,115.00. NTPC, HDFC, Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto also moved up.

Laggards at the BSE Sensex include Maruti, which declined 1.85% to Rs 948.90, HDFC Bank declined 1.82% to Rs 1,565.00 and Cipla, which dipped 1.04% to Rs 181.05. ITC and M&M also slipped.
