Tech Mahindra softens after weak quarterly performance

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 92.24 points, or 0.53%, at 17342.70, on negative cues from Asian markets. US crude closed at a record above $127 a barrel on Monday, 19 May 2009, raising concerns about its impact on consumer spending and corporate profits.

On BSE, 1.27 lakh shares were traded in the counter. The scrip had an average daily volume of 95,016 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 948 and a low of Rs 901 so far during the day. The stock had a 52-week high of Rs 1584.30 on 28 May 2007 and a 52-week low of Rs 614.80 on 17 March 2008.

The scrip had underperformed the market over the past one month till 16 May 2008, gaining 2.63% compared to the Sensex`s 5.79% gain. It had, however, outperformed the market in the past one quarter, soaring 41.72% compared to Sensex`s 3.76% fall.

The mid-cap information technology services provider has an equity capital of Rs 121.44 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

The firm made losses after it accounted for one-time expense of Rs 468 crore as exclusivity payment to a customer. The company did not disclose the customer`s identity, but said the customer would help add significant revenue for the next few years. Sales rose 8.67% to Rs 990.70 crore in Q4 March 2008 over Q3 December 2007. The company declared the results on Monday, 19 May 2008.

The net profit rose 244.96% to Rs 342.20 crore in the year ended March 2008 over the year ended March 2007. Sales rose 30.93% to Rs 3604.70 crore in the year ended March 2008 over the year ended March 2007.

The company provides information technology (IT) services and solutions to the telecom sector. It provides a variety of services ranging from IT strategy and consulting to system integration, design, application development, implementation, maintenance and product engineering.
