Both these indices underperformed Sensex. The barometer index was up 144.40 points or 0.86% to 16,883.05.
The BSE Mid-Cap index had a 52-week high of 10,245.81 on 8 January 2008 and it hit a 52-week low of 5,719.34 on 24 March 2008.
The BSE Mid-Cap index had outperformed the market over the past one month till 9 May 2008, gaining 7.93% compared to the Sensex`s return of 6.64%. It had however underperformed the market in the past one quarter, declining 8.39% compared to Sensex`s decline of 4.17%.
Bharat Bijlee (down 7.07% to Rs 2,233.95), Motilal Oswal Securities (down 6.89% to Rs 756.50), Voltamp Transformers (down 6.85% to Rs 1,079), IVR Prime Urban Developers (down 6.57% to Rs 202.65), United Breweries (down 6.31% to Rs 210.95) were among the losers from BSE Mid-Cap index.
The BSE Small-Cap index had a 52-week high of 14,239.24 on 8 January 2008 and it hit a 52-week low of 6,880.27 on 24 March 2008.
The BSE Small-Cap index had underperformed the market over the past one month till 9 May 2008, gaining 5.91% compared to the Sensex`s return of 6.64%. It had also underperformed the market in the past one quarter, declining 14.26% compared to Sensex`s decline of 4.17%.
Asian Star Company (down 8.06% to Rs 1,188.10), Mahindra Forging (down 7.6% to Rs 159.25), Lloyd Steel Industries (down 7.06% to Rs 11.84), Ganesh Housing (down 6.92% to Rs 320) and Eimco Elecon India (down 6.83% to Rs 356) were losers from BSE Small-Cap index.
