Container Corporation of India leads gainers in `A` group

Container Corporation of India surged 14.26% to Rs 1,771.25. The scrip topped gainers in BSE`s A group shares. The company declared an interim dividend of 110% (Rs 11) per share for the financial year 2007-08. It also recommended bonus issue in the ratio of 1:1.

Exide Industries rose 8.47% to Rs 83.20. It was the second biggest gainer from BSE`s A group shares. The company`s net profit rose 58.3% to Rs 55.16 crore on 59.8% rise in sales to Rs 721.92 crore in Q3 December 2007 over Q3 December 2006. The results were announced on 14 January 2008.

Jindal Stainless rose 7.74% to Rs 168.50. It was the third biggest gainer from BSE`s A group shares.The company`s net profit declined 55.2% to Rs 50.6 crore on 6.7% decline in sales to Rs 1,348.57 crore in Q3 December 2007 over Q3 December 2006. The company announced the results on 21 January 2008.

Idea Cellular rose 7.34% to Rs 123.65. It was the fourth biggest gainer from BSE`s A group shares. The company`s net profit rose 108.6% to Rs 237.19 crore on 48.8% rise in sales to Rs 1,708.09 crore in Q3 December 2007 over Q3 December 2006. The company announced the results on 19 January 2008.

Asian paints rose 6.25% to Rs 1,245.70. It was the fifth biggest gainer from BSE`s A group shares. The company`s net profit rose 65.3% to Rs 107.69 crore on 29.8% rise in sales to Rs 916.24 crore in Q3 December 2007 over Q3 December 2006. The company announced the results on 28 January 2008.
