Overview

The company recorded gross turnover of INR1,430,050 million (approximately $35,522.4 million) in the financial year ended March 2008 (FY2008), an increase of 18.7% over the financial year ended March 2007 (FY2007); while its net turnover (after taking into account other income and variation in stocks) was INR1,372,046.3 million (approximately $34,100 million) FY2008, an increase of 21.6% over FY2007.For the FY2008, regions outside India, the company's largest geographic market, accounted for 59% of the total revenues. Reliance Industries (RIL) generates revenues through four business segments: refining (63.0% of the gross turnover before eliminations in the FY2008), petrochemicals (33.8%), oil and gas (1.7%), and other (1.4%).

Revenue by segment

In the FY2008, the refining segment recorded revenues of INR1,014,822 million (approximately
$25,208.2 million) in the FY2008, an increase of 18.0% over FY2007. The petrochemicals segment recorded revenues of.INR544,471 million (approximately $13,524.7 million) in the FY2008, an increase of 4.1% over FY2007. The oil and gas segment recorded revenues of INR27,022.2 million (approximately $671.2 million) in the FY2008, an increase of 18.1% over FY2007. The other segment recorded revenues of INR23,274.9 million (approximately $578.1 million) in the FY2008, compared with revenues of INR1,812.7 (approximately $45 million) in the FY2007.

Revenue by geography

Regions outside India, RIL’s largest geographical market, accounted for 59% of the gross revenues in the FY2008. Revenues from regions outside India reached The net profit was INR844,359.9 million (approximately $20,973.9 million) in the FY2008, an increase of 27.1% over FZY2007. Regions within India accounted for 41% of the gross revenues in the FY2008. Revenues from regions within India reached INR585,689.9 million (approximately $14,548.5 million) in the FY2008, an increase of 8.4% over FY2007.
